Do you love what you see? I’m on my 12th painting (in two years) and love it! Now you can get kits to recreate the MASTERS of painting,,,like Van Gogh, Monet, Gustav Klimt…etc. There’s even a custom set to create your own, unique painting from a photograph.
Primed and ready canvas shipping from the US. 🙂 Take a break from BBQ and sit indoors with a tall lemonade and start your own work of art. Click below to peruse the site.
This weekend only use code EASTER30 to get 30% off your order at my paint by numbers’ site 🙂 All of these were ordered from them and I love doing them. Great for relief from anxiety or a hangover from too many dyed eggs or chocolates. 🙂
Today’s kits can be as intricate as you can muster. From the masters like Monet to modern works from Thomas Kincaid, these kits are wonderful for reaching out to your inner artist without needing an art degree first.
I’ve personally painted nine pictures in the past two years. It’s funny really how all of it came about. My then fiance and I saw bright pictures you could buy for your walls. I touted that I could do better than that.
Challenge accepted! I then went into a search for ideas of what to paint and came across these kits. I was amazed at the difficulty level of some of them…my first took me about 60 hours worth…but was time well spent. I’ve learned soo much about brushes, the types, gesso, varnishing, and how to mount and frame them.n
My first painting was finally put on display (with my husband-chosen 2nd painting) a year later. It took us that long to figure out how to mount it, pricing frames, buying them, and figuring the rest out, all while dancing around his work schedule (about 60 hours a week) plus kitties, life, my jobs, etc.
So, onto the three companies whose kits I’ve tried:
I’ve done the most with this company. These are canvas rolls that feel like vinyl (sometimes) but need to be flattened due to being shipped from overseas in a tube. The paint is good quality and comes with brushes (which are decent quality) plus mounting hardware for when your masterpiece is finished and framed.
Here are some examples:
They offer a wide variety of painting from the great masters to cute smaller painting just for the kiddos.
The next company I’ve tried is Plaid paints. These come on a stiff canvas covered board and are easy to sit on an easel. (the canvas rolls I attach to a foam board)
The paints are a good quantity and quality. My kit contained brushes too, and was shipped in a nice box (since it’s a board) and was in tact. I’ve done just two of these so far, but want to do more.
You can find Plaid on Amazon, Herschnerrs, or their own site: Plaid
Last but not least, FramedPBN
This was an unusual item that I found but loved it right away. I love lavender fields and wanted some color after all of the earth toned paintings I’d done…so I found this:
I found this on Amazon and loved that it’s already a pre-stapled canvas. You can hang it up as-is when dry! No fussing with mounting, etc. This came with just the canvas, paints, and instructions. I love the bright morning yellow and the blue mountains especially. It lives up my office nicely.
It’s a fresh new year and full of possibilities (and decisions to be made).
My day job is not very fulfilling, but pays the bills. So my hobbies fill in the gaps 🙂
Here’s a rundown of what was accomplished :
Ice Fairy 3, Cid, This Time Around, Upstaged 3, Complications, and re-released Love by the Numbers. Plus work on other new projects and rewrites
I knit four cushion covers, two cat blankets, five washcloths, and a sawtooth shawl!
I painted about four paintings (mostly for family).
Here’s a smidgen of what I did:
Ice Fairy 3 Coming Together
Love by the Numbers
So what’s shakin for this year? Rewrites, more paintings, but cutting back on the knitting. My job takes my hand strength and the only options are PT, or a cortisone shot. Oy. We’ll see what else I can do.
Plus, a HUGE thank you to everyone who’s joined this blog since I moved it over here to WordPress. I plan to post a lot more in the new year and change up the content, so stay tuned!
The paintings are mounted and ready to go on the wall. Now…to decide how to position them.
If you love these paintings (and want to create your own) I found them at MyPaintByNumbers.com . The frames came from Hobby Lobby (and were 50% off) and are mounted onto foamboard. Get the clips and a sawtooth hanger kit, and you’re good to go!
