Which decade of your life was the worst?

So last night I was reminded of just how bad things were in my life a decade ago when I was in my mid 30s. It was a very rough time and I would never go back. It got me to thinking if I had the chance would I repeat them? The answer is a resounding no.

How about you? Which was your worst decade and why and would you ever repeat it?A lot of us have crazy childhoods and there can be a very stressful firstdecade or two. However adulthood has its own adventures and can lead to some of the worst years of our lives.

Personally for me my 30s were the worst ever. I was in a crazy marriage which had constant struggles between medical, financial, family, death, job issues,

and mental anguish. I wouldn’t ever choose to relive them.

On the flipside, my 40s have been far and above what my 30s were. They’ve had their ups and downs but so far so good.

How about you? Which was your worst decade and why and would you ever repeat it?

Promises to myself

Hello all! I hope this weekend is starting off great for you. If not I hope it will 🙂

In the spirit of the ending 2018, I am making my list of tasks, dreams and goals. I’m calling them promises to myself.

Wow do I need goals. This year wasn’t the best by a long shot. Chronic pain, horrible job, and anxiety through the roof. On the flip side, however, I released Cid, Ice Fairy 3, Upstaged 3, and This Time Around. Plus restarted this blog and have gone from 12 to nearly 90 followers since July.

So…my list of promises include:

limit TV time (under an hour)

knit daily (if no hand pain)

paint daily (if no hand pain)

finish two rewrites

finish two new books

by year end have marketing outsourced

savor my family moments

eat better

Thats a partial list for me. How about you?

What are your promises to yourself?

Early Present! This Time Around now available…

I’m a bit embarrassed…lol. I have Amazon KDP and used the old Refugees slot…well, that book dated back to 2011. So I couldn’t set up a pre-release…long story short, This Time Around is available now for 99 cents!

For less than a can of cranberry sauce or a box of stuffing mix, you can enjoy this redone tale of how Robert and David survive in the aftermath of ‘For the Heart of Phillip’ (book 1)

Out today! Upstaged 3: Duet

Duet6x9

There’s nothing like a wedding to bring out the best—and the worst—in people.

Billy and Vince are getting married. The Von is taking time off to celebrate and the gang are all together, with a few additions.

The Caliendo family make quite an impression, especially Cousin Angel, but it’s Connor’s new boyfriend, Shaun who really takes the biscuit. Fists fly, but that’s par for the course in an Italian wedding, isn’t it?

When the dust settles, a tentative relationship begins that might finally give Angel what he’s always dreamed of – acceptance and love.

T-Minus 24 Days

Only 24 days to go!!! Wahooo!
To all my fellow brides-to-be do you do a countdown?  I did, since almost the day we set ‘the’ date! I kept it on the fridge and marked it down faithfully every single day.
Now? With only three weeks and change to go; we can almost relax.  This is a small affair, outdoors, no big receptions. The biggest worry was getting the flowers, which I just picked up last Saturday. 🙂
Next? To get the actual license, candy for goody bags, choose food, and be sure the mother of the groom has a nice outfit.
Oh…and to teach the groom to dance.  That’d be nice too. LOL
Anyone else with an October wedding? My last one was too…this time of year is hot!
What are your issues with last-minute items?
Happy weddings!

Wedding…take two

For those who might not know my story; I am a second-time bride coming this fall.
My first marriage ended amicably (we are still best buds) but he went on to become what he really wanted to be…a she.

So, that aside…my wonderful man (of nearly two years) asked me to marry him this past winter and I’m thrilled! But now the extra fun part…the planning.

If you’ve never been married before, let me warn you now. If you are not a planner or an organized person, or even have an idea of what you want…then start finding someone who can and get some ideas together.

Even though this is not my first rodeo, it has been 20 years since I last marched down the aisle. Lots has changed…from styles of gowns to cake toppers, and even tuxes.  This time around I am holding to what I wanted all along…an outdoor, small ceremony. No more super-long church aisle and close to 100 people. That’s fine…if it’s your first. But I’m middle-aged now (cough) and we want things a bit simpler.

I will wrap this up with some sites (and stores) that I am using to help me prepare. Go with your own style and don’t let anyone persuade you to what you don’t want.

Party City (great for all kinds of wedding stuff)
Hobby Lobby or Joanns, Michaels, Ben Franklin
Etsy (artisans galore!)
Amazon (found the gown here)
Thumbtack (where I’ve found the photographer and minister)
Ulta

Also never count out your local businesses. Bakers, florists, dressmakers, and corral friends and family who are gifted with hair and makeup, and even the shutterbugs.

Cheers!

Steph
