Rainbow Snippets September 15th

Two weeks into this long month already?? Wowsers. Plus, my ‘staycation’ will end tomorrow as I return to the working world… weeee! I’m excited though; the job is a good distance away, but it’s in an area I love, so that helps a lot. Now to just get some tasks cleaned up ( or started) and we’re off!

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

Blurb: You think you’re holding someone close, but if you’re not paying attention, they could slip right out of your arms and fall.

Asher and Erik are getting married, but Asher isn’t happy about the pressure being put on him by their families and unwittingly by Erik himself. Issues that have plagued him for a long time come bubbling to the surface and threaten to overwhelm him. Although he cries out for help, no one hears; instead they write it off as Asher throwing a tantrum again. Only Angel sees the cracks, but it’s too much for him to handle on his own, although he tries.

The pressure builds, and even though there are breakouts, still no one sees the extent of the problem until the night before the wedding, when Asher is confronted by Erik in front of all their family and friends, and bolts.

Fortunately, Asher is rescued by Vince’s Uncle Tony, who makes him an offer he can’t refuse.

The Band heads off to London for a three-month tour, and not everyone is happy about it. Vince is stressed out and worried that Angel is not being entirely faithful. Should he say something? Then Connor meets an old friend, just when he starts having doubts about his relationship with Angel, and the fur starts to fly.

Will any of the couples survive?

This week we pick up with the wedding talk that Asher can do without. Enjoy!.”

“It’s a kilt. It’s different. You know it is.”

“Whose wedding is this anyway?” Asher snapped. “I don’t want to wear a penguin suit and sit around pretty white tables with bowls of roses under a flower arch and play with the fairies on the way down the aisle. I want black roses and candles and a cake with a skull on top. And I know it’s not traditional, but neither am I.” He threw his napkin onto the table and stood up, scowling. “I’m going to sketch the sunset over the paddock. Call me when it’s time to go. No, call me after the wedding.” Tossing his hair, he slouched around the corner of the house and disappeared.

Rainbow Snippets September 8th

I broke with ‘tradition’ this week…it’s Sunday afternoon again. 🙂 Hubby is off buying food and I have the laptop off its leash so I can finally get down to work. I had to look twice at the calendars…holy cow September is off to a running start!

“Whoa, there. Just simmer down, Asher.” Erik laid a hand on his arm. Asher shook it off.

“Hey, in the end, it’s our day. Let the women take care of the details. It’s what they live for. My mom’s always pestering me with questions, and I tell her to just run with it. So far, it all sounds good to me.” He ran a hand over Asher’s hair. “Besides, whatever you wear—I don’t care if it’s a suit or a dress, whatever—you’ll look fabulous. It’d be more interesting if you did wear a dress, then you and Con would match better.” He laughed.

Joey joined the chat. “What about a dress? What’d I miss, Daisy?”

“My ridiculous brother is threatening to turn up in a wedding dress if we keep trying to persuade him to wear a suit.”

“Connor’s wearing a skirt,” Asher grumbled, scowling at his plate as he systematically shredded a bread roll.

“It’s a kilt. It’s different. You know it is.”

Rainbow Snippets September 1st

I broke with ‘tradition’ this week…it’s Sunday afternoon again. 🙂 Hubby is home and kitty is asleep in his new favorite spot of the week. New tales and even a fan fiction are happening in my head as I await for news of a new job. Until then…I’m adoring being at home with my yarn, my cat, brushes, and game.

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

“Aw, Ash. You’re setting a bad example for Angel. That boy looks up to you, you know.”

“Tsk, tsk. Must behave now, mustn’t we?” Vince joked, catching the scowl Asher sent to Billy. Thankfully, Asher smiled and relaxed back into his seat. He was such a powder keg lately, and the last thing Vince wanted was a stand-up row. “You’re not the only ones, you know. Our mothers took over our wedding, and the hens clucked so damn much together over it they became best friends.” He chuckled, lost in memories.

“Sure did. How are yours getting along? Have you had much of a chance to help out, Daisy, or have the moms just hoarded it all?”

“Are you serious?” Asher said, still hyper. “She’s a fucking woman, of course she’s doing her bit to help. And as for our mothers…” He shuddered. “You’d swear they were twins separated at birth.”

“Whoa, there. Just simmer down, Asher.” Erik laid a hand on his arm. Asher shook it off.

Rainbow Snippets August 25th

Second week in a row I’m here in the early morning (ok, early for me as anything before 9 a.m. is the middle of the night). Hubby is by my side (in background) as I tend to things on this side of my life once again. Now…I have loads of free time as my job came to a swift end on Friday….a blessing in disguise. I intend to soak up all this extra time and convert it into blog posts and maybe a new story!

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

Vince nearly dropped his drink. “Oh gawd, Asher. I shudder to think what else you’d wear. You’re at the very least— er, how can I put it—shocking with what you choose to wear.” Billy nodded. “Truth there, baby. You looked smokin’ hot at our wedding, but I can’t fathom what you’d wear to yours if you had the chance. Something toeing the line of legality, I’m sure.” He laughed. “Aw, Ash. “It wasn’t a suit. It was black slacks and a vintage jacket with silver buttons and—” “It was close to a suit,” Daisy snapped, “and this time it’s your wedding.” She sat back as if the point was decided.

“And, because it’s my wedding, how about cutting me a bit of slack?” Asher growled back. “You’ve already blown every idea I’ve had about the stupid wedding right out of the water and if you really think—”

Daisy huffed. “Your ideas have been ridiculous. Who gets married at midnight in a cave with the officiant dressed as death?”

“I do,” Asher said grimly. “Or rather, I don’t.”

“We’ve reached compromises—” “Compromises? You mean you’ve thrown me a few scraps, like agreeing to have the wedding in the evening, putting some black serviettes on the table, and going for red roses instead of white ones. Big deal. Well, I’m warning you, keep pushing me and you’ll be sorry. If you force that fucking suit on me, I’ll walk down the aisle in a dress.”

I’m truly a creature of habit. Tis a Sunday afternoon here and I’m doing my author life while hubby is out running errands. What time of day is most productive for you?

This week we skip ahead a bit later into the conversation amongst the friends. Someone mentioned ‘wedding’ and Asher is none too happy….

Erik waggled his eyebrows in mock horror. “For heaven sake, Vince. Don’t say the W word in front of Asher. He might explode…or kill someone.”

Asher punched him in the arm, none too gently, and scowled. “I told you from the very start this would get out of hand and we’d have been better off eloping. But no, Mr. Von Nordgren had to have his day in the spotlight. Not as if he doesn’t have enough of them. I knew damn well as soon as the women got their hands on it, things would get out of control.” He said women as if it was a swear word. “I feel like I’ve been catapulted into hell and surrounded by she-demons, constantly beating me over the head with seating plans and menus and flowers.” He shuddered. “Can you believe my mother actually believes she’s going to get me into a suit?”

“And so she will,” Daisy said, firmly. “It’s your wedding. You have to be smart.”

“What’s smart about wearing a suit? When have you ever seen me wearing a suit?”

“At Grandma’s funeral.”

“It wasn’t a suit. It was black slacks and a vintage jacket with silver buttons and—” “It was close to a suit,” Daisy snapped, “and this time it’s your wedding.” She sat back as if the point was decided.

This week we pick up at the dinner party with the friends.

Vince hooked Billy with one arm and held him close. “Just great. Love this thing. It’s perfect on this huge patio. Beats the old house of ours hands down.” “Yeah, but we had lots of memories there, didn’t we?”

They all strolled outside to the patio table. “So, a toast to our new house!” Billy offered.

“Hear, hear! It’s awesome, guys!” Erik agreed. “Love this view.”

“Love the peace,” Asher sighed, with a pointed look at Daisy.

“We wanted a good chunk of land, not to be crowded into housing lots,” Vince replied. “Eventually I’d love a few acres and a ranch style. By then I’ll be an old man.”

Billy laughed. “Old man. Listen to you. You’re all of twenty-one-years-old, baby. If you’re old, I’m old…and so are all of us, so let’s not even go there.”  He glanced up at Erik. “So, six days to go! Are you so excited you can’t sleep? Gettin’ married? The ol’ ball and chain?” He kicked Erik’s chair.

“Ha, ha, I’m fantastic. I’m really stoked about this. Life’s good, The Von’s doing great, and we’ve got our new house. Once it’s fixed up, it’ll be the talk of the neighborhood.” He took Asher’s hand. “Best of all, it’s ours.”

Asher smiled and squeezed Erik’s hand. “I can’t wait to move in. Can’t believe those stupid rules and regulations. Who the fuck cares if there’s electricity, or a floor in the kitchen, or walls in the studio? We’ve got candles, and there’s running water. It’s fucking nuts that some official in an office somewhere gets to decide when we can move into our own house. It wouldn’t happen in the UK, and you think we’re crazy.”

Rainbow Snippets July 28th

Tis a Sunday afternoon here and I’m relaxing 🙂 Yesterday was a busy day of errands it carried on til this morning. It’s sooo nice to sit back and soak up some Hulu shows!

Last week I talked about how I recreated the characters (main four of Erik, Asher, Billy, and Vince) in the Sims 3. Here are some pics of the characters:

He wondered whether Billy saw him any differently now he’d lost the weight but decided not. Billy loved him just as he was, and that was the key to everything.

As if he knew Vince was thinking about him, Billy appeared at his side and draped his arms around Vince’s shoulders. Vince shivered as his husband kissed his neck. “Hey, baby. How’s it going out here on your new toy?”

Vince hooked Billy with one arm and held him close. “Just great. Love this thing. It’s perfect on this huge patio. Beats the old house of ours hands down.” “Yeah, but we had lots of memories there, didn’t we?”

Rainbow Snippets July 20th

Happy weekend! It’s a Saurday and a hot one here in ye olde Midwest. 😦 I’m NOT a fan of the heat or humidity, but combine them and you have absolute misery.

I talked about recreating the characters (main four of Erik, Asher, Billy, and Vince) in the Sims 3, which I’ve done…now to get some photos up. So far so good! Erik is an aspiring rock star, Vince is a chef, Asher the artist, and Billy…is unsure.

This week I’m posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (link below)

Poor guys had been living the wedding planning nightmare, but only had a few more days to go.

Dripping fat hissed on the brand-new barbecue, and Vince moved some of the hamburgers over so they wouldn’t get singed. The grill was full of meat of all kinds—chicken, burger, even a couple of steaks. Erik had a huge appetite, as did Daisy, ever since her pregnancy. Vince had cut back on his own food intake, and the proof was in his new wardrobe. He’d lost 30 pounds since the marriage a year ago. Amazing, since he was a chef, with only a year to go to complete culinary school.

Rainbow Snippets July 14th

Happy weekend! We’re on the downward slope of Sunday; but a good day regardless. The beetles have chased me indoors (didn’t take much to drive me inside as it was)…where I’m re-downloading my Sims (lost in an overzealous attempt to cleanse the files and ended up losing them)….:(

I see it as a ‘happy accident’ though, a chance to re-create those that weren’t going so well. One such family is the subject of this week’s snippet…Upstaged.

This week I’m posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out two days ago on Extasy Books. (link below)

Vince smiled to himself, thinking how the past year had seemed to fly by. He and Billy were doing great, which was the best. It had taken a while, but they’d finally found a great house and were enjoying every moment. Several months ago, they had talked Daisy into being a surrogate for them, and Joey was constantly by her side for support. Angel was back in the States, attending the art school of his dreams while Connor was still in Ireland, working on completing his schooling for construction. Then, of course, there was Eric and Asher. Poor guys had been living the wedding planning nightmare, but only had a few more days to go.
