Rainbow Snippets July 25th

Happy 25th of July! All day yesterday I swore it was the 23rd. I wrote it in my calendar and my notes; and then hubby enlightened me. Where has this month gone? Ah well. One month down and we get closer to the best season of all. Fall. (in my opinion)

Here’s my snippet for the week: (see below)

This week I jump to the next day where Erik and Asher encounter each other in of all places…high school gym class. A spot they didn’t know they shared, until now.

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

I’m changing gears completely and going to a beloved co-authored work and a series of Upstaged. Written by myself and Cheryl Headford (Nephy to some) in 2012! Over the course of two years we wrote 12 books together! It was the most insane, wonderful time of my writing life! We hope you love the result. The first four books are published and up for sale at Extasy Press and on Amazon. Here is book #1. Upstaged: Opening Act

Blurb:

Wannabe singer and band front man Erik Von Nordgren hates snarky brit Asher Berkley with a passion. From the moment he turns up at practice with his twin sister Daisy, who is one of the band the two have hated each other.
Through a series of ‘tit for tat’ incidents they annoy, frustrate and exasperated each other. The die hard goth with purple eyes and the hard core rocker with dreams of the big time have nothing in common and no need to cross paths. Except to wind each other up.
Until the day that Erik throws Asher in the school pool, when everything begins to change. Erik is so far in closet he’s in Narnia and Asher has a dark past and trust issues that stand in the way of any relationship, let alone one with the brash American who hurts him every time they try to get together.
A relationship doomed from the start, or so you’d think.

“Don’t worry, the straight guys are safe. And there’s no need to put a lock and key on your arse, sweet cheeks. I never fuck losers, they’re just not worth the energy.”

“You snobby, arrogant…piece of…” Erik growled as he took a fighting stance. “I’ll show you what’s worth the energy, you…freakin’ vampire! I’m surprised you can come out in the damn daylight.”

“I can come anywhere I want.” Asher winked. “But it won’t be anywhere near you, don’t worry about that.”

Rainbow Snippets July 18th

Happy Sunday! This week flew by fast I think. This past weekend I had all the right intentions, but only part of it went into practice. I think I need someone standing over my shoulder ready to swipe the pringles away or at least shut off Steam. LOL

Here’s my snippet for the week: (see below)

“Shut it, Paul, Manuel,” Erik warned them. Like he’s straight. He enjoyed that kiss and he knows I know it.

Erik’s nostrils flared. ”Kiss many straight guys, do you?” he snapped at Asher. “Maybe I should put out a warning.”

More laughter surrounded them. Asher ground his teeth. Not that he hid his sexuality, but he didn’t want it drawn to everyone’s attention, especially not here. He was damned if he was going to have his haven spoiled. He glanced at Sensei, but he didn’t seem in any hurry to shut down the conversation. In fact, he seemed amused. “Don’t worry, the straight guys are safe. And there’s no need to put a lock and key on your arse, sweet cheeks. I never fuck losers, they’re just not worth the energy.”

Rainbow Snippets July 12th, 2021

Back to life…back to reality… as the song goes. I don’t recall the artist, but I think it was a 90’s hit that sticks in my head. This past week went quickly at points, and I was more productive than I’ve been in eons.

Now we head into full steam ahead and prep for GRL 2021, plus keep working, school, life, wifey duties, mommy duties, etc. All part of life. All part of reality.

“Well, if it isn’t my biggest fan.” Erik’s sneer twisted his face. “You prick. Have a great time after you left our awesome practice that you missed?”

“Not as much fun as I had before I left. You kiss pretty sweet for a straight guy.”

Laughter surrounded them, and Erik gave him a deadly glare. “Erik, you got…what?” one of the other students asked.

“Go for it, Erik!” another added.

“Shut it, Paul, Manuel,” Erik warned them. Like he’s straight. He enjoyed that kiss and he knows I know it.

It’s finally happening! I’m going to my first convention as an author 😍😍😍

It’s go time to order up books and schwag 🙂 I need feedback on both though…what is a good giveaway at a convention?

My paperbacks (solo written) will be there for signing, but how many of each do I bring?

Any advice from my fellow authors is greatly appreciated.

Steph

Rainbow Snippets July 4th, 2021

Wow. My last entry was the last day of February. Since then I found out the kitty love of my life had cancer, we tried to make as comfy as humanly possible, but he lost the fight on June 4th, a month ago today. Even looking at his urn makes me weepy now. I want my baby back 😦

Fortunately, my amazing husband, family, and friends have all been very supportive and allowed me to be there for him when it was crucial. He passed painlessly in my own arms.

Now, with the stress of worry diminishing, I remember that I am still an author and still capable of creating this art form. It’ll just take time and coaxing to get the words out. Two years of my life were spent worrying over Jack; but he’d want me to live my best life while waiting to see him at rainbow bridge.

Here’s my snippet for the week: (see below)

This week I pick up after the performance is over and Billy and Erik are alone in the garage. Poor Billy has been raked over the coals with Erik’s lack of feelings before; but his loyalty cannot be denied.

“Billy, I’m not gay.”

“Like fuck you aren’t. As for us, it was real all along, and you’re as gay as I am. You just like to hide things. Deep. You like to bury anything real until it explodes, like we did in bed. Think about that one for a second, Mr. Von Closeted Nordgren.” He shoved two fingers into Erik’s chest then walked off.
