Rainbow Snippets January 31st, 2021

We made it! One-Twelfth of this year is done. Now, who asked for a refund after the trial period was up? LOL

Sorry for missing last week; busy with schoolwork and housework and life as usual. Five cats, hubby, and an all-too intense interest in a new game has my time tied up nicely. Tis my resolution (is it too late to make one)? To post every week, on time, every time.

Here’s my snippet for the week: (see below)

This week I pick up after the performance is over and Billy and Erik are alone in the garage. Poor Billy has been raked over the coals with Erik’s lack of feelings before; but his loyalty cannot be denied.

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

I’m changing gears completely and going to a beloved co-authored work and a series of Upstaged. Written by myself and Cheryl Headford (Nephy to some) in 2012! Over the course of two years we wrote 12 books together! It was the most insane, wonderful time of my writing life! We hope you love the result. The first four books are published and up for sale at Extasy Press and on Amazon. Here is book #1. Upstaged: Opening Act

Blurb:

Wannabe singer and band front man Erik Von Nordgren hates snarky brit Asher Berkley with a passion. From the moment he turns up at practice with his twin sister Daisy, who is one of the band the two have hated each other.
Through a series of ‘tit for tat’ incidents they annoy, frustrate and exasperated each other. The die hard goth with purple eyes and the hard core rocker with dreams of the big time have nothing in common and no need to cross paths. Except to wind each other up.
Until the day that Erik throws Asher in the school pool, when everything begins to change. Erik is so far in closet he’s in Narnia and Asher has a dark past and trust issues that stand in the way of any relationship, let alone one with the brash American who hurts him every time they try to get together.
A relationship doomed from the start, or so you’d think.

“Um… Did yo…?” Billy’s nerve seemed to wane.

“Did I what?” Erik prompted when he paused.

Billy struggled for words. He didn’t really want an answer for his question. “You wanted it to happen, didn’t you?”

Those ice-blue eyes pierced right through him. “Say that again and I’ll shove you.”

“Come on. I know the truth.” Billy lowered his voice to a whisper. “I know you like guys, and I saw him checking you out that whole time. He wants you and I could almost swear…”

“That guy’s just an asinine Brit trying to make waves.”

Midway through the month already? How did this happen? Wasn’t it just yesterday we were kicking 2020 to the curb?

The cell phone fiasco from last week has still not ironed out. The phones are not in stock…apparently anywhere. They need to tell China to amp up production because we need ’em! LOL

Here’s my snippet for the week: (see below)

This week I pick up after the performance is over and Billy and Erik are alone in the garage. Erik accuses Billy of saying something to out the nervous superstar-in-training and gets under the skin of his best friend yet again.

“Fuck, well, maybe he just wanted to make an ass of me.”

Billy shook his head. “That ain’t too hard.” He ducked a swat. Erik loved to take a swipe at him. “I dunno, but I swear on my life I didn’t say a thing to anyone. Not even my parents. You think I’d rat you out? Hell no! I’d rat myself out first.”

Erik relaxed and offered Billy a smile. “I know. Thanks, buddy.”

After a long pause, he took a quick breath. “Erik?”

“Yeah?”

“Um… Did yo…?” Billy’s nerve seemed to wane.

Rainbow Snippets January 10th, 2021

After this week’s events in our nation; anything I have to add wouldn’t be worth two cents. There are no words for what happened there. I’m sorry for those who lost their lives and I am relieved this is all over soon.

On the lighter side of life; hubby and I found out the true not-so-fun experience of shopping for cell phones. So far we are three days into this fiasco and ended up switching carriers after finding out only the ‘new kids’ get the cool offers. Dopes.

An awkward silence fell between them.

Erik scowled at his friend. “Did you tell him anything?” His tone was accusatory.

“About what? I’m sworn to silence if you recall, you asshole,” Billy snapped back.

Rainbow Snippets January 3rd, 2021

Thank goodness, we made it to 2021! After what was a hellacious year for most…we are now (hopefully) on the slide towards something better. I really, truly hope so.

All in all, things weren’t terrible for my family. We did celebrate birthdays, holidays, and welcomed three new family members. We still have jobs, and a roof over our heads and food to eat (most of it sugar). LOL.

Writing-wise did not pan out the way I wanted it to, but my career in the ‘real’ world took precedence and demanded extra training (and schooling). I produced nothing new, but that by no means indicates I’ve stopped being a writer. All things will happen in good, due time.

“Right, man. You’re the boss.” Billy clapped his best friend’s shoulder.

The touch almost burned, and Erik twisted away violently.

“Get off me, Billy. Go beat your damn drums.”

Guilt wracked him the second he saw Billy’s shocked but pained expression. The teen blinked and scowled back at him. “Whatever.” He hopped back up on stage with one huge step and fell silent.

After everyone else had gone, Billy and Erik were in the garage alone. They’d packed up their gear and paused to examine the damage on the garage wall.

“That’s nothing. Just say it fell during a surge or something,” Billy suggested.

“Yeah, I guess.” Erik snorted. “That kid is gonna get me in so much trouble.”

An awkward silence fell between them.

Erik scowled at his friend. “Did you tell him anything?” His tone was accusatory.
