Rainbow Snippets September 29th

Happy Sunday! The first breath of autumn has been stifled by heat 😦 Dangit. Bring on the bonfire weather! My allergies and sinuses are not happy campers at all with the shifts in temperature.

Otherwise, life is good as I pursue a new hobby, and catch up on old and new shows alike as I knit or plan out my gaming. Even a new story (hint hint).

This week I’m changing things up and posting from one of my first books “Love by the Numbers’. This has had a few covers, but the latest is below. The story is the same…about Scott the nerd and Jared the jock and how they find love while battling high school, hormones, and parental issues.

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

Blurb: Jared Adams is the smokin’ hot darling of the school baseball team. Girls fawn all over him and the world is at his feet.

Except he can’t do math.

Enter Scott Williams: nerd and mathlete. He’s only supposed to help Jared with math, but the help – and friendship – go further than that.

Fate made them friends, but is friendship all they have?

Jared began tapping his foot in time with the pencil.

This irritated Mrs. O’Reilly to no end. She was a wafer-thin, blue-suited, tightly bunned, spectacled woman, well known for being one of the toughest disciplinarians in school. Scott speculated, along with other classmates: if The Warden wound her black hair any tighter, could it make her dull green eyes pop out?

As the clock ticked away, Jared showed his growing displeasure. He sighed audibly, rolled his eyes, and slumped deep into his chair. A few classmates grinned, including Scott. At the start of the semester two months ago, Scott had seen Jared’s picture in the trophy case along the main hallway. He’d been instantly smitten with the school celebrity. Now, seeing him in person and getting to be his classmate piqued his curiosity.

Rainbow Snippets September 22nd

Happy Sunday! Tomorrow is the first official breath of autumn and I can’t wait! Summer and heat are not my thing, nor hubby’s at all. Bring on the crisp air, changing leaves, and the entrance of the holiday season that teases us all annually.

Seventeen-year-old Scott Williams glanced up at the clock; it was almost 2 o’clock and he was still in his fifth period class—Advanced Algebra. It had been a long day already, and this class just would not end. He adjusted his six foot three inch frame in his very uncomfortable wooden chair.

The classroom was deadly silent as the teacher, Mrs. Maureen O’Reilly, wrote out instructions for tomorrow’s class. Suddenly, there was the interjection of another sound into the room. Senior Jared Adamson impatiently tapped his pencil on his desk. His brown eyes kept close watch of the time as well. He repeatedly swept away his curly blond hair; it kept falling onto his tan face. Jared began tapping his foot in time with the pencil.

Rainbow Snippets September 15th

Two weeks into this long month already?? Wowsers. Plus, my ‘staycation’ will end tomorrow as I return to the working world… weeee! I’m excited though; the job is a good distance away, but it’s in an area I love, so that helps a lot. Now to just get some tasks cleaned up ( or started) and we’re off!

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

Blurb: You think you’re holding someone close, but if you’re not paying attention, they could slip right out of your arms and fall.

Asher and Erik are getting married, but Asher isn’t happy about the pressure being put on him by their families and unwittingly by Erik himself. Issues that have plagued him for a long time come bubbling to the surface and threaten to overwhelm him. Although he cries out for help, no one hears; instead they write it off as Asher throwing a tantrum again. Only Angel sees the cracks, but it’s too much for him to handle on his own, although he tries.

The pressure builds, and even though there are breakouts, still no one sees the extent of the problem until the night before the wedding, when Asher is confronted by Erik in front of all their family and friends, and bolts.

Fortunately, Asher is rescued by Vince’s Uncle Tony, who makes him an offer he can’t refuse.

The Band heads off to London for a three-month tour, and not everyone is happy about it. Vince is stressed out and worried that Angel is not being entirely faithful. Should he say something? Then Connor meets an old friend, just when he starts having doubts about his relationship with Angel, and the fur starts to fly.

Will any of the couples survive?

This week we pick up with the wedding talk that Asher can do without. Enjoy!.”

“It’s a kilt. It’s different. You know it is.”

“Whose wedding is this anyway?” Asher snapped. “I don’t want to wear a penguin suit and sit around pretty white tables with bowls of roses under a flower arch and play with the fairies on the way down the aisle. I want black roses and candles and a cake with a skull on top. And I know it’s not traditional, but neither am I.” He threw his napkin onto the table and stood up, scowling. “I’m going to sketch the sunset over the paddock. Call me when it’s time to go. No, call me after the wedding.” Tossing his hair, he slouched around the corner of the house and disappeared.

There’s lots of guidance out there for writing and completing projects. There’s lots of great advice about organizing, planning, and goal-setting. There’s lots of wisdom about optimizing our workspaces and increasing our productivity.

But what if you realize you are just having an all-around rough day?

What if you just have too much on your mind and heart to focus on your writing? What if you have a relative who just went straight from surgery to hospice – and you’re concerned about running into her nasty ex at the hospice? And the roofers have been banging on your roof for a few days? And it’s 108° out there? Oh, and your spouse is having a cancer recurrence? And your sister in another state has been rushed off by the paramedics, barely revived in…

Rainbow Snippets September 8th

I broke with ‘tradition’ this week…it’s Sunday afternoon again. 🙂 Hubby is off buying food and I have the laptop off its leash so I can finally get down to work. I had to look twice at the calendars…holy cow September is off to a running start!

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

This week we pick up with the wedding talk that Asher and his twin sister, Daisy are arguing about…errr…discussing? Enjoy!.”

“Whoa, there. Just simmer down, Asher.” Erik laid a hand on his arm. Asher shook it off.

“Hey, in the end, it’s our day. Let the women take care of the details. It’s what they live for. My mom’s always pestering me with questions, and I tell her to just run with it. So far, it all sounds good to me.” He ran a hand over Asher’s hair. “Besides, whatever you wear—I don’t care if it’s a suit or a dress, whatever—you’ll look fabulous. It’d be more interesting if you did wear a dress, then you and Con would match better.” He laughed.

Joey joined the chat. “What about a dress? What’d I miss, Daisy?”

“My ridiculous brother is threatening to turn up in a wedding dress if we keep trying to persuade him to wear a suit.”

“Connor’s wearing a skirt,” Asher grumbled, scowling at his plate as he systematically shredded a bread roll.

“It’s a kilt. It’s different. You know it is.”

Rainbow Snippets September 1st

I broke with ‘tradition’ this week…it’s Sunday afternoon again. 🙂 Hubby is home and kitty is asleep in his new favorite spot of the week. New tales and even a fan fiction are happening in my head as I await for news of a new job. Until then…I’m adoring being at home with my yarn, my cat, brushes, and game.

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

“Aw, Ash. You’re setting a bad example for Angel. That boy looks up to you, you know.”

“Tsk, tsk. Must behave now, mustn’t we?” Vince joked, catching the scowl Asher sent to Billy. Thankfully, Asher smiled and relaxed back into his seat. He was such a powder keg lately, and the last thing Vince wanted was a stand-up row. “You’re not the only ones, you know. Our mothers took over our wedding, and the hens clucked so damn much together over it they became best friends.” He chuckled, lost in memories.

“Sure did. How are yours getting along? Have you had much of a chance to help out, Daisy, or have the moms just hoarded it all?”

“Are you serious?” Asher said, still hyper. “She’s a fucking woman, of course she’s doing her bit to help. And as for our mothers…” He shuddered. “You’d swear they were twins separated at birth.”

“Whoa, there. Just simmer down, Asher.” Erik laid a hand on his arm. Asher shook it off.
